Open Question: Scorpions in Istanbul?

Every year in November we find at least one scorpion in our house in Istanbul. They are about as long as your thumb with small pincers and long thin tails. They are normally darker brown in color. I found something years ago that they are not harmful but now am not sure. I have been looking online to find info about this species but can't find much. Anyone know if they are harmful? I am trying not to get paranoid but with a 1 year old in the house it worries me. Thanks anyone for some info.... Our home is in Goztepe (Kadikoy Area) on the Asian side. It seems to be just in November that they venture into our apartment and we are on the ground floor. I have seen them in our bedroom, living room, and balcony. The one I encountered last night was on our balcony, but I didn't want to take the chance that he can come inside. Thanks for the answers...what worries me is that I have seen that the smaller their pincers are, the more chance that they are poisonous. They have small pincers....
